Steve, Perhaps this is why the BCLB is not bred or shown in Holland. They have similarity. But the birds are not the same genetically and really do not look the same, if bred for exhibition.
The Blue Golden is based on the Silver variety. The male hackle will be silvery and not richCream as in CLB. The male back will be red, not orange, as in CLB/BCLB. The female Blue Golden will be grayer in overall appearance than the BCLB female, as her hackle will show no cream. Blue Golden female will have blue feather with gray stippling. The BCLB female will have blue/tan feather with darker blue stipping over the body.
In Holland the Blue Golden is called Red Shouldered Blue Silver. Again, the Blue Cream Light Brown is not bred in Holland, but IS in England.
: A cock bird was entered at our show last weekend and was shown as a blue golden. It looked to me just like a cream blue light brown with a slight yellow tint in the hackle instead of being creamy. Is this the main difference between the two?
