I misposted a msg to Don Cable et al! Lost a lens from my glassses adn having to peep!
I stated that L.K. did not raise any chickens from our first importation and he didn't. He sent me his only cockeral. Lawrence did raise some Dutch from a later importation from my source in Holland. I was a "Cold Warrior" at that time and lost touch for several years.
Don is correct in that Lawrence Krause did raise some Dutch, but from a later importation!
Our first importAtion were Silvers; the later importations were Patrijs and Zilver Patrijs.
Many people carried eggs from Holland during the 50's and 60's and beyond. Some really fine specimens began to show up at shows but then the "good ole boys" bagan the cross breeing -gilding the rose - so to speak - and all was lost until better quality birds were imported rather recently and I assume are bred properly.
I now live in California and from time to time encounter fine quality birds from German importations!
