Sounds like you may have them sorted out right???The Light Brown, Blue light Brown and Cream Light Brown chicks all look almost identical at hatch--chipmonk stripes-- and are VERY SMALL. With experience and a number of hatches and close examination, you can guess the varieties better. But more than the first wing feathers, it takes about 6 weeks to be sure!!

A note: if any red begins to show in feathers on the shoulders--at least by 5-6 weeks--it will be a BOY!

: My childeren and I purchase a mixed group of bantam chicks, and, being new to chickens, promptly got the various breeds confused. The ones we think are dutch started off looking rather like mallard duckings or chipmunks. They are also much smaller than the other chicks. Does this description seem correct? The other breeds we got were an aracauna, salmon favorelle, mille fleurs, gold-laced cochins and some big silver spangled hamburghs.
