There are some more pictures of correct female CLBs that I will send to anyone who wishes to see them--some U.S. birds. The European Standard for CLBs has never been lost in the US, but like many varieties, you can breed them correctly or select the wrong birds for breeding. . They are not peas in a pod, but will become more uniform with careful selection. For years, there was much variation in males. The first ones were not very popular or as attractive as today, and certainly not uniform in color! Most have much better color now, but I am afraid not enough care was taken in selecting the females. They are often forgotten--the gorgeous male gets the attention. You do not have to breed many--just one or two good female birds will give you all you want to carry on. This is true of LB, BLBs, and all varieties, even the solid Black, White, Self Blues. That is the magic of poultry breeding and the challenge! CJR
